Meet Little Bea

Little Bea

You all know who I am, and for those who don’t, I’m Harry the Wonder Cat of the series by the same name. Last week I got together with Denise, the author of my book, and decided that we should introduce my three cat co-stars.

Today, we are going to meet that irrepressible dynamo, one of my favorite KitKats….Little Bea!

Little Bea:   Thank you, everyone.  Oh, I’m so happy to be here in the spotlight with you, Harry.  *swoons at Harry*

Harry:   Yes, well….*clearing throat*  How  did you feel to be selected to help with this caper?

Little Bea:   In a word, honored.

Harry:   Why is that?

Little Bea:    I often get overlooked because I’m the youngest, the smallest and a girl.  This time, I was called to duty and I did my job well, don’t you think?

Harry:   Yes, I certainly do.  In all honesty, Little Bea…

Little Bea:   *rolling her eyes*  Just Bea, please.  I’m not so little.

Harry:   You’ll always be my Little Bea.

Little Bea: *blushing*  Really Harry?

Harry:   Yes, really. *pats Little Bea on her head*  So, moving on…I was going to say that we took advantage of your size.  You got into places that the other bigger cats couldn’t.

Little Bea:   Yes, I did.  *obviously proud of herself*

Harry:   What’s on your agenda now…since you’ve completed this mission?

Little Bea:   I’m waiting for you to call on me again!  I’m ready anytime you are. *looking anxiously up at Harry*

Harry:   *laughing*  We’ll see, Little Bea!  Thank you for being with us today.

Little Bea:   *swooning*  Oh anytime, Harry!

That’s all for this week, folks.  Don’t forget to see Little Bea and the others in Harry the Wonder Cat: The Legend of the Pink Diamond starring yours truly.   Next week, our guest will be Ollie.

What Makes Harry Tick

We want you to know a bit about Harry the Wonder Cat and what makes him tick.  He is a Maine Coon, so we thought that we would give you a little background on the breed.

Maine Coons,  otherwise known as “Gentle Giants”, is a special breed of cat…or so Harry says (and we all know how special he is).

Let’s start with the outer cat.  Maine Coons are extremely big for a house cat.  The average male Maine Coon typically weighs in at 15 to 25 pounds, but they have been known to be up to 35+ pounds.

They can get to be about 40” in length. (No, that ’s not a typo…40”!)  The world’s record is held by a beautiful Coon, Stewie (pictured below) who measured 48.5”.  (Seems a monster next to Harry’s puny 38”, huh?)

There are some who claim that Maine Coons are the biggest or certainly one of the biggest domesticated cat breeds in the world.

Some other physical traits are:

1. Both their bodies and their heads are rectangular in build, unlike their smaller, sleeker counterparts.

2. A Maine Coon’s medium to long fur has three layers to it to protect them from the cold.

3. Maine Coons have a luxurious mane and square face, making them resemble a small lion.

4. The tail of a Maine Coon is long in length and covered in long fur, making it look bushy.

5. As is true with Harry, a Maine Coon’s eyes have a wisdom of the ages, revealing natural intelligence.

6. Their ears are normally larger than their counterparts and have tufts of fur growing out of them.

7. Their paws are unusually large with tufts of fur between each “toe”.

Male Maine Coons are certainly one of the sweetest breeds.  They are ready to show off their comical antics at a moments notice.  Maine Coons do not normally communicate like other cats.  When they talk to you, which is often, they do it by trilling and singing.

The Maine Coon has a mystery all their own based on many legends. We will share them with you in later posts.

Basic Witch: Witches of Salem (Gemma Bradbury Magical Cozy Mysteries Book 1) by Harmony Hart

“Basic Witch” is a delightful Cozy Mystery about a girl, Gemma Bradbury, and her cat, Titus, who fall into a magical world which is inhabited by creatures of fairy tales and folk lore. Gemma finds out through the Witch’s Coven that, not only is she stuck in this strange place, but she’s a witch and Titus is her familiar. If that’s not enough, she is accused of murder by an oaf of an detective. While she’s learning how to use her new skills she, along with her new friends (who are great characters, by the way), try to clear her name.

Ms. Hart has a style and imagination to be envied by other writers of the genre. I truly enjoyed this, sometimes laughing right out loud. I gave this book 5 stars and I can’t wait to read Book 2 of the series.
